She then meets another client at a hotel, a young man named Daniel however, he leaves halfway through his appointment, whilst Hannah is performing fellatio on him. ![]() The two view a luxurious London townhouse, and halfway through the tour of the property they run out. Whilst walking past an estate agent's office, and Ben asks whether they should play a game of "spoilt little rich girl". The scene then changes to a London café with red semicircular awnings, where Hannah meets her best friend and ex-boyfriend, Ben, who has no idea of her double life as a call girl and mentions the good tasting custard crusts, which he said are handmade, not machine made. Hannah quickly establishes that the man has a public sex fantasy, in particular in fields and stables. The client arrives and as he does Hannah runs through her "rules" with the audience, telling what makes her a good prostitute. However she is interrupted by a call from her agent, Stephanie, who informs her that a client will be round in 30 minutes. She then continues describing her personal and professional life, her personal and professional living space and even her and Belle's contrasting fashion. Hannah then wakes in her flat and begins directly addressing the audience, differentiating between herself and her alter-ego, Belle. Whilst doing so she narrates, telling the viewer that she is a " whore". The episode begins with Hannah Baxter walking across the eastern Golden Jubilee Bridge, she is then seen entering The May Fair and heading towards the lift. " Episode 1.1" is the series 1 premiere of the British television show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Days are often overcast but never ominous or even rainy there’s a bustling energy in the public scenes that serve as a backdrop as she moves stealthily about.ĭeMange draws out the helplessness and frustrations of the men who visit Belle, which are complemented by Tat Radcliffe’s framing of the action.Hannah walking through London to meet a client Yann DeMange directed the first four episodes, and like Gotham in “Sex and the City,” London is part of the cast here. The mainstays of her existence - her madam Stephanie (Cheryl Lunghi), best friend Ben (Iddo Goldberg) and parents (Toyah Wilcox, Stuart Organ) - throw her curveballs she searches for solutions, which at times include clients.įirst four episodes raise a string of questions: What is a woman doing wrong when she can’t get an attractive young man to perform sexually? When you are paid not to give in to desire, and desire burns hotter than ever, how do you decide the right move? When a sibling becomes a parent, how do life’s expectations change? How close can a man and a woman be when the man is romantically involved with another woman? On top of those quandaries, she’s facing a learning curve as she becomes a dominatrix. Apparently well-off, she draws insights into behavior as men enter and exit her life, treating them all with heartfelt TLC. Hannah is levelheaded and values independence and control above all. Billie Piper is a commanding presence as Hannah, who goes by Belle in her professional life. ![]()
